Cameron hits 6 months and graduates!

Cameron graduated from New Mom's Group today. That group has been such a blessing to us. We have met a great group of families in our Play Group that was started through Mom's Group. It has been an opportunity to hear from other mothers what they are going through and to realize that we are not alone in what we are going through. It's been a place to laugh, and to cry, and to learn. It's given us the benefit of hearing what works for others so that we may try new things to find what works for us. It's given us the gift of being able to help other mothers with our ideas. We are sad that it had to end but I'll be back soon enough with a little brother or sister to Cam. We will carry on seeing our Play Group at least once a week.

New things going on!

Here is a picture of Cameron's first bottom tooth. Since then the other bottom tooth has appeared as well. You can often see them well while he is smiling but they are elusive when the camera's around. We've been spending our summer days with friends. We have started a three week trial of Gymboree where we play with Gymbo the clown and new friends. It's a great program that integrates games, music and sensory exploration to challenge and entertain little brains. It includes classes and play gym where you just get to do whatever you want in the gym with all of their toys. It is so much fun. At our first class Cameron had so much fun that he started clapping for the first time. Cameron will graduate from Mom's Group on Thursday and we plan on celebrating with Cam's girlfriend, Abby, her new little sister, Bella, and their mom Auntie Hilary. Abby loves to kiss Cameron and it's so cute. We have also rekindled some friendships and enjoyed getting to know our old friends again. We may start swim lessons soon.

Fun days in the sun!

Wow it's hot. We keep cool with air conditioning (thank God) and Cameron enjoys his baby pool. Here are some pictures of him having fun. Both of his front bottom teeth have broken through. He is sitting up really well now and we keep finding him having rolled over in bed onto his tummy. He's doing a lot of talking lately and loves to interact with people, other babies and his cat, Harry. Harry has been very patient in putting up with Cameron's interest in him. On Sunday Cameron met his Great Great Aunt Nanny and Uncle Art and their daughter, Lori. Later we went to a party in honor of Hil and Joe's new baby Isabelle. She is really cute. We are looking forward to enjoying our last two Mom's Groups with Hil and Bella before we graduate. It will be a sad day when we have to say goodbye to Mary and the other moms.......until the next baby........

Bean the Land Shark!

He used to be Cameron the Bean but today he is Bean the Land Shark. Get a finger or a toy near his mouth and you've been chomped before you know it. He is in pretty good spirits and we think the worst is over...... til the next tooth!

Chomp Chomp!

Cameron's first tooth popped it's way out today! We suspected this might be happening but had a few false alarms before, so we kept quiet until it popped through. He started biting a lot, got a drool rash on his chin, stopped wanting to eat much solid food and stopped sleeping well for a few days. We could also see and feel the swelling if the gums and the little ridge of tooth underneath. How exciting. It's amazing how quickly these milestones come and go. It seems like one right after another. Until next time....... -Katie, Andy and Cameron

4th of July!

Here are the pics we promised from the 4th. We had a great time with our new friends Holly and David and their son Oliver. Oliver is Cameron's first best friend as you can see in the photos. Holly's mother Patti graciously opened her home and welcomed us in to enjoy the fireworks displays from all over the city from her balcony. During the large fireworks displays, David proposed marriage to Holly and she accepted! How romantic! We then had our own display of fireworks stand fountains and ground bloom flowers in the street. Cameron was mesmerized by the glimmer of colorful, flashing lights.

On a more somber note, Cameron's friend 6th month old Joshua has just been diagnosed with a very large and aggressive brain tumor. The diagnosis comes as a mixed blessing as Joshua has had a very difficult time in his life so far with feeding issues and almost constant crying. His mother Kendall has been a trooper through it all trying to get to the root of Joshua's problems. Now that they know that it is a tumor, they have started treatment immediately and hopefully Joshua already feels some relief. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.

Cam rolls over!

Cameron rolled over tonight. We were playing with him on the bed and rolled him from back to tummy. He then rolled himself back over! What a clever little guy. He went over to his friend Oliver's house to play today and had a great time. We also tried out the morning Mom's Group meeting. We usually go to afternoon Group but it is pretty full since most of the mom's with the youngest babes have a hard time making it to morning Group. We have such a good time there. We also belong to a Play Group that we attend once a week with the same ladies and babes and we love that too. It's been a great experience for us to meet other young families. Together we are all expanding the village that will help raise these kids. Hopefully they will retain these friendships throughout life! Fourth of July pics still to come...... -Katie, Andy and Cameron

Long time no blog!

Sorry it has been such a long time since we've blogged. Time goes so fast and we have been awfully busy with Cameron in our lives! Man, we love this little guy. He has grown quickly and reached many new milestones. He now loves to laugh and smile. He can reach for toys, grasp them and play with them. He recently started sitting up unassisted, eating some big boy food and using a sippy cup. He loves to eat! He's over 21 pounds! We are working on rolling over. He easily rolls onto his side but hasn't mastered rolling all the way over yet. He sleeps through the night, which is great, and rules our lives with his dependable demand for a regular nap schedule. He is such a joy in our lives. We have taken to regularly calling him The Bean because he still loves to be swaddled in a green swaddle blanket which we call his bean pod. We will try to keep our blog up more regularly so please keep checking back! Til next post..... -Katie, Andy and of course, Cameron the Bean

He's Here

It was a long wait, but it has been totally worth it. We got to meet Cameron James Friesen at 11:48 on February 11, 2009. We love him to death. He was perfect and we feel so grateful for his health and well being. He is a very big boy. He weighed in at 9 lbs. 13ozs and is now a wopping 10 lbs 14ozs. He is going to be growing out of his clothes and diapers so fast it is amazing.

Pics of Cameron's Room

We are still waiting. We went to the Dr. yesterday and things are moving along so maybe very soon, maybe a little later. We finally got internet access at home so we can update more regularly. Here are some pics of Cameron's room- still a work in progress but everything he needs is ready to go. We still have a shelf to paint, curtains to hang and some art to add but all the necessities are there. We just need a Cameron! Will keep everone posted. -Katie
